Descriptions:

Kyoto was the second capital of Japan from 794-1868 with 72 Emperors and 3 Shoguns legacy. Many national treasures and important cultural assets are the remains of such history. Needless to say, there are many hidden and interesting sites to explore in Kyoto. * Samurai guide, Joe Okada will introduce some of the aforementioned sites on this tour. As an experienced tour guide, Joe Okada knows Kyoto inside out. He personally escorts you for 4 km, walked in about 5 hours. Let‰Ûªs enjoy cool Kyoto with the cool samurai! * Schedule: * 9:45 * We will meet at Kyoto City Hall Plaza. You can reach Kyoto City Hall Plaza from Kyoto Shiyakusho-Mae Station (station number T12) on the subway Tozai Line. * 10:00 * We will walk along Teramachi Street and visit various specialty shops including those with wood engravings, the best paper and tea, and Japanese brushes and inks. You will also have the opportunity to visit a Shinto shrine and a Buddhist temple. * 11:30 * We will then walk through the Kyoto Imperial Palace forest and enjoy a special visit to the Shusui-tei garden, complete with a centuries-old tea house for nobility. We will walk by the 25 million dollar Kyoto State Guest House, where U.S. President George W. Bush had a press conference in 2005. * 13:00 * We will relax and enjoy the ‰ÛÏFace to Face Market‰Û� and try some pre-arranged sample foods! * 14:30 * You will have the opportunity to watch a very rare samurai sword demonstration, “Cutting Apple in Air,” by Samurai Joe. * 15:00 * The tour disbands. You may revisit the shops, or visit nearby sites including Daitokuji, Ginkakuji, and Nijo Castle. * Availability: * Group Tour – Every Saturday * Semi Private Tour – Your requested date except Saturday * I offer this tours every Saturday for groups of 10 people or more. If your group is smaller then 10, please inquire as you may still be able to join the tour with others. Also, you can book your own private tour at a flat rate on Saturdays and weekdays – please ask! * *Children under 12 years are free but they need to cover food fee in cash for 1000 JPY.n
